What is Search Engine Optimisation?
A. Search Engine Optimisation or SEO as it is mostly referred to, is simply the usage and placement of certain words within a website to attract the attention of the search engines so that the particular website is ranked according to the relevance of the words which are contained in website.
This is considered important if a website is to be found by users of search engines when such users are searching for a particular word or group of words.
How much does SEO cost?
A. It shouldn’t cost anything. A properly built website should contain enough keywords, description and tags to enable the search engines to find the website fast. Every website built by me is set up to automatically include all necessary words and descriptions so that the website gets noticed and is put in front of searchers looking for the content of the website.

A. As I said earlier, SEO should be part of any properly set-up website anyway. You shouldn’t have to pay for what really is a basic service.

I’ve heard that I can pay to be at the top of Google. Is this right?
A. Yes and no. There is no need to pay for SEO, however, there is such a thing as Google Ads which are the advertisements which one sees at the top and at the side of the Google search pages. These cost according to the length of time the advert stays up and the number of times you want the ad to be “clicked on” – this is pay per click. I’ve tried it myself for a month with my websites business, my website repairs and my website management plans – all came to nought with not one customer enquiry whatsoever.
I recommend that clients stay well clear of this sort of advertising. Nothing beats good old SEO.
